HSS Celebrates Social Work Month – March 2010

Every year, the National Association of Social Workers honors social workers across the country with the observance of National Professional Social Work Month. This is an opportunity for the profession to consider its history, celebrate the important work being done, and look toward its promising future. The 2010 Social Work Month theme was “Social Workers Inspire Community Action.”

To acknowledge Social Work Month, HSS’s Social Work Staff Development Committee sponsored several events, coordinated by the Department of Social Work Programs, including:

  • A lecture open to all staff, “Identifying and Intervening with Patients with Substance Use Disorders,” presented by Nicholas Lessa, LCSW-R, MA, CASAC on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 10:00 - 11:00am, Menschel Center, 2nd floor.
  • In addition, information tables were available throughout the month highlighting the role of HSS social workers and the many programs offered to our patients, as well as serving diverse communities locally, regionally, and nationally.

We thank everyone who attended the lecture and stopped by our table!
