Hospital for Special Surgery "A Night Under the Bridge" Gala

Style 1 Media—November 15, 2010

On November 12th, the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) held its annual fall gala, A Night Under the Bridge to Benefit Medical Education, at Guastavino's under Manhattan's 59th Street Bridge. The gala was chaired by Cynthia D. Sculco, whose husband, Thomas Sculco, MD, is Surgeon-in-Chief at HSS. Gala attendees enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and dancing, followed by Late Night, a party hosted by the Young Friends of HSS, and chaired by the Sculcos' daughter, Sarah Jane Sculco. A highlight of the evening was the performance by Tony and Emmy award-winning singer/actress, Leslie Uggams.

Before entertaining guests with songs like Jerry Herman's ballad, If He Walked Into My Life, Ms. Uggams announced that she will be having her knee done at HSS in January. Indeed, many may benefit from the Hospital for Special Surgery's services at some time during their life. HSS has the distinction of being nationally ranked No. 1 in orthopedics, No. 3 in rheumatology, and No. 16 in neurology by U.S. News & World Report (2010-11). As a top-ranked hospital, HSS is committed to state-of-the-art medical education and research. A key component to the hospital's education and training is the HSS Journal, the Musculoskeletal Journal of Hospital for Special Surgery. This peer-reviewed journal, published three times a year, presents cutting edge research, clinical pathways and innovative techniques to educate physicians and surgeons.
