Cleveland Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson underwent pectoral surgery

Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson underwent surgery today to repair a damaged pectoral in his shoulder, his agent Brian Mackler, told The Plain Dealer.

Mackler said Jackson will be fully recovered within 12 weeks.

"D'Qwell led the league in tackles last season and he'll be back on the field next season as strong as ever," said Mackler. "He'll be back to 100% sooner than later."

Jackson suffered the injury in the second quarter of Sunday's 27-14 loss to Pittsburgh. He underwent the surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York by Dr. Frank Cordasco, who specializes in ailments of the knee and shoulder.

Of the various levels of pectoral injuries, Jackson's is believed to be the least serious. He was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Browns coach Eric Mangini acknowledged that losing Jackson, who's on injured reserve for the season, is a blow.

"D'Qwell's such a good guy and even though he's not playing, he'll be very active in meetings, he'll work with the young guys, he'll work with whoever," said Mangini. "That's who he is. His concern isn't him, his concern is getting ready for Green Bay. When I texted back and forth it was, 'Don't worry about me, let's go on Green Bay.'"
