Kyle Gibson, the Twins' top pitching prospect, will have his right elbow surgically reconstructed later this month, a decision that in all likelihood will keep him off the field for all of 2012. Specialist David Altchek is scheduled to perform the procedure, commonly known as Tommy John surgery, on Sept. 7 at Hospital for Special Surgery. Recovery generally takes between 14-24 months.
