The Rumble: Program counts your golf steps, of course

New York-based Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and the PGA of America have teamed up for the health and fitness initiative "Let's Move on Course," encouraging golfers to walk the course while playing in an effort to lead healthier lifestyles. This week, HSS launched an interactive website dedicated to the program that allows players to track steps taken and calories burned while playing golf. Players can create personalized "walking" accounts to track their progress daily with total steps updated automatically. Visitors also have the option of tracking scores for rounds of golf throughout the year, watching instructional videos and viewing tips to stay healthy on the course...Tuesday will be Jay Mottola Day at GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford, where the affable executive director of the Met Golf Association will be saluted for his hard work and commitment to New York-area golf. Past "Traditions of Golf" honorees at GlenArbor include Gary Player, golf pro Dennis Walters and columnist Dave Anderson.
