Expert: Davis should be able to play Sunday

WSOC, the ABC affiliate in Charlotte, NC, reported on Carolina Panthers' Thomas Davis who broke his arm in the NFL Championship but still plans to play in the upcoming Super Bowl.

WSOC spoke with Steve K. Lee, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery, who did not treat Davis but is an expert in hand and arm injuries.

Davis' injury was the best case scenario for a lower arm injury, said Dr. Lee. "The break that he has is in the ulna bone and luckily it wasn’t both the bones. The wrist wasn’t injured and the elbow wasn't injured."

The biggest issue for Davis, aside from pain tolerance, would be his mental being and being able to trust the arm, knowing it's not 100 percent, said Dr. Lee.
