For patients and/or family members who need overnight accommodations, Hospital for Special Surgery’s Belaire Guest Facilities offer elegant and comfortable lodging. Conveniently located directly across from the Hospital on East 71st Street between the FDR and York Avenue, Belaire units can be used prior to hospital admission and beyond hospital discharge. If needed, interpreter services and wheelchairs are readily available. HSS Guest Facilities are in close proximity to the New York Presbyterian-Cornell Medical Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Rockefeller University. Patient Family Atrium
The Patient Family Atrium, located on 4 East, is a waiting room for your family and friends where they may stay comfortably on the day of your surgery. Your surgeon may contact them in the waiting room when your surgery is completed. Beepers are available for family and friends should they want to leave the hospital premises. An internet kiosk is available for guests to use while waiting. A public wireless internet connection is also available if you have a laptop with wireless capability.
Belaire Café

The Belaire Café located on the plaza level in the Belaire Building, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open daily from 7:00am - 7:00pm to outpatients and visitors.
Patient Library
Our Volunteer operated Patient Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am – 1:00pm. The Library Cart, which visits in-patient units, also offers magazines and books. Please ask your nurse if you would like any reading materials from the Patient Library or call 212.606.1227.
Language and Communication Services
To ensure your best clinical experience, HSS provides free-of-charge medical interpretation, key document translations, and communication assistance and devices. When you register for HSS Services, you will be asked your language of preference, and offered language/communication assistance.
