Dr. Dale Lange is the Chairman of Neurology and the Neurologist-in-Chief at Hospital for Special Surgery. He specializes in diseases of nerve and muscle. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his internship in medicine at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Lange completed his residency in neurology at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, MA, and then became the Clinical Fellow of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in EMG and Neuromuscular Disease at the Neurological Institute at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Lange has served on the faculties of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is on the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College and is Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association sponsored MDA/ALS and neuromuscular disease Clinics at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Lange’s clinical practice is focused primarily on the diagnosis and management of diseases of nerve and muscle, including motor neuron disease (ALS), peripheral neuropathy (GBS, CIDP, diabetic, toxic, metabolic neuropathies), neuromuscular junction disorders (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome, and botulism), and myopathies (polymyositis, inclusion-body myositis and muscular dystrophies). He also performs nerve conduction, needle EMG, and single-fiber EMG studies to evaluate patients with focal and generalized neuromuscular disorders. His research interests include designing, implementing, and managing clinical trials for patients with ALS and other neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Lange is the author of more than 90 peer reviewed articles and chapters in textbooks. He has been invited to lecture, both nationally and internationally, on topics related to his research in neuromuscular disease. Dr. Lange sees patients with complaints referable to nerve and muscle disease as well as select general neurological conditions in his office at Hospital for Special Surgery.
Industry Relationships |
One of the goals of Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is to advance the science of orthopedic surgery, rheumatology, and related disciplines for the benefit of patients. Physicians at HSS may collaborate with outside companies for education, research and medical advances. HSS supports this collaboration in order to foster medical breakthroughs; however HSS also believes that these collaborations must be disclosed.
As part of the disclosure process, this website lists physician collaborations with outside companies if payments were received during the prior year, or if the HSS physician currently receives payment. The disclosures are provided by information provided by the physician and other sources and are updated regularly. Further information may be available on individual company websites.
As of June 04, 2010, Dr. Lange reported no financial interest relationships with healthcare industry.
By disclosing the collaborations of HSS physicians with industry on this website, HSS and its physicians make this information available to their patients and the public, thus creating a transparent environment for those who are interested in this information. Further, HSS’ Conflicts of Interest Policy does not permit physicians to collect royalties on products developed by him/her that are used on patients at HSS.
