A: The HSS Rehabilitation Network is a hospital-based network of preferred rehabilitation providers. The Network is a community focused, patient driven referral service for the continuation of outpatient therapy, addressing the needs of patients who cannot utilize the Hospital for their rehabilitation.
With a growing membership of over 100 practices throughout the Tri-State area, the Network aims to provide patients with access to the highest level of rehabilitative care where it’s most convenient, close to their home or place of business.
A: We offer a number of ways to help you find the most suitable practice for your patient. The simplest one is our referral sheets, which list the names, addresses, and contact information for every practice within the Network. The sheets are organized according to location, with one for Manhattan/NYC boroughs and one for the outer regions. We also have a sheet listing only those practices that offer hand therapy. You can find our referral sheets in convenient PDF form on our
home page.
Network staff is also available weekdays from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. to provide personal assistance with referrals. For more detailed information on individual practices, contact us at 212.606.1317 and we'll gladly assist you in your selection. Of course you are also welcome to call a practice you're considering directly.
A: Network members are selected on the basis of their credentials and facilities through an application process. To apply, a therapy practice must be independently owned, without physician ownership or association. The practice must be engaged in rehabilitation on a full-time basis. Other factors include but are not limited to location, scope of service, and clinical experience.
The best way to obtain detailed information about membership criteria is to call 212.606.1317 and a member of the HSS Rehabilitation Network staff will be happy to provide further information and answer your questions.
A: Our Network members are associated with the leading hospital in the country for orthopedics and rheumatology and its medical and rehabilitation staff. Once on the HSS Rehabilitation Network roster, therapy practices enjoy preferred provider status from HSS physicians and marketing of the practice by the Rehab Network. Whenever appropriate, physicians will recommend that their patients go to HSS Rehabilitation Network practices for their out-of-hospital rehabilitation needs, increasing patient volume potential.
The hospital's strong emphasis on linked education and research efforts results in many opportunities for continuing education throughout the year, often at discounted rates exclusive to Network members. In addition, there are two Network member-only professional education programs offered annually. Members will also be included in all quality assessment and outcomes studies initiated by the Network.
