The ACL Prevention Program

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries have been become increasingly prevalent among unconditioned athletes, especially young girls. Typically this serious injury occurs when the nature of the sport involves quick twisting or cutting movements in sports such as soccer and basketball. Most of these injuries are attributed to general lower body weakness, especially hamstring weakness.

In most cases ACL injuries are preventable, and a carefully organized lower body strength program is an effective means of preventing these injuries form occurring.

Our ACL Prevention Program offers is a lower body strength and endurance orientation that can be performed with minimal equipment and without qualified supervision. Coaches and parent are welcome and encouraged to attend and observe this program if they would like to supervise their child or integrate the exercises as part of the training regimen.

The ACL Prevention Program includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced level curriculums. They are specifically designed according to athletic ability. Yet each curriculum targets the same final outcome, which includes:

  • Improving quadricep to hamstring strength ratio
  • Strengthening the surrounding musculature around the hip, knee, and ankle
  • Improving lower body coordination and endurance
  • Improving lower body agility
