The Individual and Group Training Program is the most popular strength and conditioning service we offer at the Institute. We offer training on an individual and group basis. Prior to starting the Program, a preliminary fitness and physical evaluation is given to assess the athlete’s current fitness status. With the athlete’s goals in mind, our physical therapists/trainers design an individualized strength and conditioning program. This Program allows the athlete to work on increasing their strength in a supervised environment. The Program is operated at our Sport Medicine Facility in the Upper East Side of New York City. We offer the latest state of the art equipment and ample space for a variety of modes of training.
Individualized Training is typically geared for either very young athletes, under the age of 10 years of age, and older athletes who preparing for higher level sports competition, such as college sports or select competitive travel teams. For younger athletic populations this program is design to educate young kids on the basics of training. Young kids learn the basics of balance, coordination, and training techniques in a carefully designed training plan operated by our pediatric physical therapists/trainers. Alternatively, our older highly competitive athletes benefit form this program when they need supervision in performing high intensity power and endurance training to simulate the rigors of high level of athletic competition.
Group Training is ideal for adolescent and post-adolescent athletes who are new to training and have several years of competing in organized sports. With no more than 3 athletes per group, each athlete is given the same attentiveness as he or she would receive on an individual basis. This program is a progressive resistance program where athletes are exposed to strength training equipment for the first time. Since adolescent athletes are most prone to injury due to their stage of development, we carefully monitor the adolescent athlete’s progress by slowly increasing resistance and encouraging higher repetition in each exercise.
