Hospital for Special Surgery's Visiting Professor Lecture Series presents both Distinguished Research Lectures and Honorary Service Lectures in one annual series of coordinated presentations. Since 1968, this series has showcased lectures by renowned visiting faculty who are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise in our field. Continuing Medical Education
(CME) credits can be earned for attendance. This year, the series continues to offer an impressive schedule of outstanding medical faculty who will present on timely topics.

STATEMENT OF NEEDThe field of musculoskeletal medicine is highly dynamic and rapidly changing. Research findings result in new techniques and clinical guidelines such as revised treatment options for patients who suffer from chronic osteomyelitis, and positive and negative effects of the use of bisphosphinate in patients with osteogenesis imperfecta. Orthopaedic surgeons and clinicians are expected to keep abreast of these advances in order to achieve optimal clinical practice and patient care.
The Visiting Professor Lecture Series is designed to augment both the basic science and applied clinical practice knowledge of our attending physicians. Information presented in these lectures focuses on both musculoskeletal research and related clinical science perspectives.
LEARNING OBJECTIVESHospital for Special Surgery CME activities are intended to lead to better patient care and safety. At the conclusion of each lecture, participants will be able to:
- Describe current research findings in musculoskeletal medicine and explain their potential implications for clinical practice.
- Evaluate, diagnose and manage various orthopaedic and rheumatologic conditions using the most recent tests and treatment modalities.
- Identify and refer patients appropriately for sub-specialty care.
ACCREDITATIONHospital for Special Surgery is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Hospital for Special Surgery designates this educational activity for a maximum of 15.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
