About HSS

The Driveway and main Hospital entrance will be CLOSED each weekend during the summer from 9pm Friday until 5am Monday for renovation.

All visitors and patients are asked to enter and exit the Hospital via the Belaire Building at 525 E 71st St (directly across from the hospital’s main entrance on 71st street). Patients arriving and being discharged by ambulette and ambulance will be directed to the Belaire entrance on 71st Street. There will be signage directing patients and visitors, and there will be Security Officers present inside and outside to provide assistance and directions during this time period. 

The driveway will be closed every weekend for the next 3 1/2 months. (June 11 through September 30). On the weekdays, the construction will be done in phases and the driveway will remain open.

When arriving at HSS by car between the hours of 9pm Friday and 4am Monday, please follow these directions:

From the NORTH: Follow the directions from your origin on our Maps & Directions page until you’ve taken the 71st St. exit on the FDR. Once having exited the FDR onto 71st St., the temporary hospital entrance will be on your right (north side of 71st St.), at 525 E 71st St. You will find a parking garage for patients and visitors on the right (north side of 71st Street).

From the SOUTH: Follow the directions from your origin on our Maps & Directions page until you’ve reached York Avenue. Once on York Avenue, drive to 73rd St. and take a right onto 73rd. Drive one block to the FDR on-ramp. Enter the FDR by taking a right, and stay right for the 71st St. exit. Once having exited the FDR onto 71st St., the temporary hospital entrance will be on your right (north side of 71st St.), at 525 E 71st St. You will find a parking garage for patients and visitors on the right (north side of 71st Street).
